What’s Good: The mixture of political drama and love story with a comedy that never lets you disconnect from the movie. Also the comic timing of Magne Buda aka Goli kancha. The movie would have been not this good without goli kancha.
What’s Bad: When you try to fly high with a good script, there can be some unwanted spots you can hit and that’s what brings the film a little down. Some of the plots seem unconvincing at times.
Watch or Not: Watch it to entertain yourself and you might even relate to the script at some point and learn things (you will know what I mean).
Chha Maya Chhapakkai revolves around a love story of BP (Dipak) & Jaal (Keki) with a political background. Both of their fathers are the political leaders of opposition parties.
BP is the son of a communist leader who fed his son politics since childhood. And because of which he is focused on his father’s political career than his personal life till the age of 42.
The movie shows how BP & Jaal make their love story successful within the political differences between the families. And how politics become the hurdles in their story. Also, it shows how BP fulfills his father’s dream.
Chha Maya Chhapakkai Movie Review: Script Analysis
The script of Chha Maya Chhapakkai has a few loopholes but it is backed by superlative performances. The character of Jaal seems not written properly. She easily fell in love with BP with just a few lines from her sisters-in-law without anything strong to convince the plot.
Also, we can see her at the hospital but it is not explained she is either a doctor or any other.
BP is also shown flipping on his decisions without any important events happening. From the base level of writing, it’s a strong movie having some weak spots.
Chha Maya Chhapakkai Movie Review: Star Performance
Dipak Raj Giri as BP has done full justice to the character. He is in the industry for almost 2 decades and proves why he is still here. Be it a loyal son, good functionary to the party or a lover, he has done all the parts well.
Keki Adhikari as Jaal has and Jitu Nepal as Prabin are good with their respective roles. They are neither an inch up or an inch down (and that’s enough).
Kedar Prasad Ghimire as Goli Kancha steals the show. With his performance, he steals every frame he is in. The movie would not have been this interesting without him. Hats off to his comic timing.
Shupushpa Bhatta has a small role but she has done fine with her part. Apart from them, all other characters have done enough justice to their role.
Also, Barsha Raut’s special appearance is a good part of the movie.
Chha Maya Chhapakkai Movie Review: Direction, Music
Dipendra Lama, who has previously directed Ghampani and Gopi has done a very good job. After a content-driven movie like Gopi, he has excellently directed this another content-driven movie. As mentioned earlier, Chha Maya Chhapakkai has some loopholes but nothing major to complain about.
Coming to music, it has only one song in the movie ‘Junko Juneli’ which is a very good song. But the promotional song at the end of the song ‘Bicha Bichama’ is somehow unbearable to some extent. The only question is after such a good movie why such a nasty song???
Chha Maya Chhapakkai Movie Review: The Last Word
All said and done, Chha Maya Chhapakkai is an out and out commercial movie with good performances. You might think a movie with a political background might be boring but trust me it has many things to offer.
Watch it for the little message makers are trying to give with this one.
