As Mahanayak Rajesh Hamal turns 55 today, let’s take a look at how the actor got the title as ‘Mahanayak’.
On June 9, 1964, Rajesh Hamal was born to parents Chuda Bahadur Hamal & Renu KC. He is the 3rd child, with 4 siblings including Rita Hamal, Rekha Hamal, Rakesh Hamal, and Rupa Hamal.
Hamal is currently married to Madhu Bhattarai. They first met at the Lux Beauty Pageant in 2014 and married on May 24, 2014, in a private wedding ceremony.
Rajesh started his career with the movie “Yug Dekhi Yug Samma” in 1991. But before entering the film industry he modeled for a magazine in India named Fashion Net.
Since the debut, he has appeared in over 200 films in a career spanning nearly three decades.
After his debut in 1991, Hamal appeared in movies like Adhikar, Kasam, Gopikrishna in 1992.
In the year 1993, Hamal teamed up with Tulsi Ghimire for the 1st time, in his directorial film project Deuta. Upon its release, it became super hit at the box office of Nepal. The film is also considered the film that launched his stardom in the Nepalese film industry.
After the success of Deuta, there was no looking back for Hamal. He appeared in many successful films like Allare, Shankar, Saathi, Ek Number Ko Pakhe, to name few.
His dialogue from Shankar, “Dushman ko lagi yo haat falam ho, Saathi ko lagi yo haat salam ho” is still one of the most famous dialogues among the audiences.
In 2000 Hamal was cast in actor Neer Shah’s directorial film titled Basanti. In the film, Hamal portrayed the role of Gagan Singh Khawas. The film is based on the novel of the same written by Diamond Shumsher Rana.
Not only the big screen, but he has also been ruling the ad industry as well as the television industry.
In 2019, he currently hosted the Nepalese version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, Ko Bancha Crorepati which just wrapped their first season.
He is considered a dominant figure in bringing professionalism in the Nepalese movie industry.
